Workers at Azzkikr Custom Motorcycles  are working overtime, trying to stickhandle their way to the podium at the 2012 Vancouver Motorcycle show.

A few months ago, the staff at the Surrey-based shop decided they wanted to build a one-of-a-kind bike that would would capture the energy and emotion of the Metro Vancouver. What better way than with a bike that pays homage to the Vancouver Canucks?

"The idea actually came from a customer," said painting shop manager Hakeem Hassan. "We wanted it to be an obvious fan bike but a totally useable bike as well."

While Azzkikr Custom Motorcycles is known for everything from complete custom builds to mild bike modifications, this bike was designed for an every-day rider.

"We had a plan to do a Canucks bike a few years ago with hockey stick forks" among others wild custom modifications said Hassan. "We had sketches that were totally radical but we didn't want to do that this time."

With a 26-inch front wheel and a Canucks coloured paint job, the 110-horsepower, two-cylinder chopper will still have numerous custom Canucks-inspired components, including a hand-tooled leather seat, engraved shifter rod and timing cover, and a Canucks logo on the gas tank.

With nearly 300 hours of custom work done so far, the bike will be on display either on Custom Alley or at the Azzkikr booth at the Vancouver Motorcycle Show in Abbotsford this week.

"This will be not just a showpiece, you'll be able to get on it and ride," said Hassan. "It's just a fan-inspired bike and we're all fans."

The 2012 Vancouver Motorcycle show runs from Jan. 19-22 at the Tradex Exhibition Centre in Abbotsford.
