Life membership awarded to Abbotsford accountant

The honour has been bestowed by the Certified General Accountants Association of B.C.

The Certified General Accountants Association of B.C. (CGA-BC) has granted a life membership award to John Pankratz of Abbotsford.

Life membership is awarded for meritorious service in the profession  and is the highest honour conferred by CGA-BC.

It recognizes those who have provided exemplary service, contributing to the growth and stature of the association.

Pankratz is a partner at Friesen Pankratz & Associates LLP.

In 1986, he entered public practice and, in 1988, he received his CGA designation.

Pankratz has served on the local chapter board from 1988 to 1997, and has held numerous positions with provincial boards and committees.

He was granted the Harold Clarke Award for Service in 2002.

Pankratz continues to serve the association in key positions – as an elected member of the board of governors in 2005, and as CGA-BC’s president in 2010.

Pankratz has also been active in the community, as treasurer of the Valley Squadron of the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons for 10 years, on the board of finance for Bakerview Church, and as an examiner and area administrator for the Royal Life Saving Society.

He was a member of the Canada Revenue Agency’s Appeals Advisory Committee from 2004 to 2006, and in 2012 he was appointed to B.C.’s Audit Certification Board, which oversees the certification of our province’s auditors.

This year, Pankratz was appointed to the board of the University of the Fraser Valley.
