A new branch for Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, known as CIBC, opened their doors today in Abbotsford. The new financial building is located at Sumas and Marshall. Pamela Coard has been appointed branch manager of the new location.
The largest merger of two chartered banks in Canadian history happened June 1st 1961 - The Canadian Bank of Commerce (est. 1967) and the Imperial Bank of Canada (est. 1875), merged to form CIBC. It's history spans nearly two centuries.
The annual report (2012) showed CIBC with 11 million clients and more than 42,000 employees. CIBC was ranked the strongest bank in North America and the third in the world by Bloomberg Markets magazine.
