Response to create an Abbotsford chapter of the Canadian Christian Business Federation (CCBF) has been “most encouraging,” according to the organization’s executive director.
Keith Knight says plans are in place to create the Abbotsford chapter at a breakfast meeting which will be held on May 30 at ABC Restaurant, Best Western Regency Inn on Marshall Road, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Knight said he already has an impressive list of local business leaders who plan to attend. New chapters of the CCBF will also be created in Chilliwack and Langley that week.
“The monthly breakfast meeting is the primary place where hundreds of men and women meet to talk about connecting their faith to their vocation," he said. "We use a five-year ‘curriculum’ so that every conceivable issue faced by a business person is covered from a biblical perspective.”
The group looks at issues such as risk-taking, profit, stress management, integrity, long-range planning, power and influence.
At the breakfast meeting, Knight will provide a history of the 30-year-old CCBF and explain how most monthly meetings function. He will ask for a local volunteer or two to spearhead the development of the chapter and to lead the monthly discussions.
“This is a made-in-Abbotsford business group. Each group has its own culture, its own focus, and its unique needs,” he said.
