AbbotsfordWORKS, a WorkBC employment service centre, hosts a hiring event on Thursday, Sept. 7 from noon to 4 p.m.

The event takes place at Apollo Multiplex Centre, 3600 Townline Rd.

Major employers on hand include ACS Recycling, Dynamic Windows and Doors, Home Depot, Cabela’s, Best Buy, CamTran, Denny’s, Lowes, Overlanders Manufacturing, SunLife Financial Services, Tradex, Vibrant Health Products, and more.

AbbotsfordWORKS provides services to assist unemployed individuals to return to work and those who are under-employed to gain full-time employment.

Services include a self-serve employment resource room, information on job opportunities, career exploration and training services, workshops on job-search tools, self-employment referrals and ongoing support.

These services are offered through three different locations in Abbotsford, with the storefront – located at 33255 South Fraser Way – being the “hub.”

The other two locations are at Apollo Multiplex Centre and at 33711 Laurel St.

The Abbotsford WORKS employment service centre opened April 2, 2012, and has since assisted more than 4,000 Abbotsford residents to find employment.
