Abbotsford airline offers flights to Vancouver

Island Express Air can get commuters to Vancouver in about 12 minutes.

A new, non-stop flight is now available from Abbotsford International Airport (YXX) to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) via Island Express Air.

Starting on July 16, travellers can fly directly to YVR South Terminal in 12 minutes, as compared to a one-and-a-half to two-hour drive in rush hour.

The new service will have two flights a day during the week, departing Abbotsford at 7 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. and one flight daily on the weekends, leaving at 3 p.m.

After a 15-minute stop at YVR the flight will continue to Nanaimo, then back through YVR to Abbotsford arriving at 8:55 a.m. and 6:15 p.m.

Existing routes to Victoria will continue with direct service in each direction.

There will be a free shuttle to the main terminal for anyone wanting to catch connecting flights on other carriers.

This new service will also allow Fraser Valley residents to park their vehicles at home and connect to any destination worldwide from Abbotsford International Airport via Vancouver International Airport. Prices start at $49 plus taxes and fees.

Island Express Air will be celebrating its fourth year of operation and now has four aircraft including three twin-engine Navajos and one single-engine Piper Aircraft for sightseeing.
