Bio:
Dr. Simon Gibson is an Abbotsford city councillor and a business teacher at the University of the Fraser Valley.
Gibson completed his first term on city council in the 1980s and has been on Council almost continuously since then. He has served on most committees, and now serves as vice-chair on the Fraser Valley Regional Library Board and as a member on the Fraser Valley Regional District Board, Wildlife Habitat Subcommittee, and Abbotsford Transit Committee.
Gibson earned degrees including a doctorate in education from Simon Fraser University, a masters from California State University at Dominguez Hills, and an honours degree in journalism from Carleton University. He is also a contract instructor for the B.C. Police Academy, and acts as a communications, management, and leadership consultant for companies.
In his spare time, Gibson enjoys long distance running, writing, travel, hiking, gourmet cooking, and leading professional seminars. He also writes an online column, Office Politics 101, and a column for New Home Living BC, a local Chinese magazine.
