With the 2016 BC Summer Games only days away, a ceremony at Abbotsford's city hall had the mayor and the events head organizers smiling in anticipation.

Mayor Henry Braun was joined by the games' vice-president Stan Peterson and president Steve Carlton to officially receive a proclamation from the province on Monday afternoon.

The games kick off with an opening ceremony Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Abbotsford Centre.
