The Yale Lions begin their run at AAA senior girls basketball provincials on Wednesday, when they meet New Westminster at 5:15 p.m. at Capilano University in North Vancouver.
It's the first time in more than two decades that a Lions senior girls team has qualified for the AAA B.C.'s, and head coach Euan Roberts said his players are raring to go.
"They're very excited, and I know the school is excited as well," he said. "They're soaking it all in."
The Lions earned their spot at provincials by virtue of a bronze medal at the Fraser Valleys last week. Their first-round opponent, New West, is the fourth-place finisher in the Lower Mainland zone.
