Abbotsford Christian School wants to use basketball to battle hunger in Mexico

The school is hosting a three-on-three charity basketball tournament on June 2, with all the funds raised being used to fight poverty in San Quintin, Mexico.

The tournament organizer was motivated to put the event together after visiting the Northern Mexico city on a mission trip with her church earlier this year.

Divisions at the event include Grade 6 and 7 boys, Grade 6 and 7 girls, Grade 8 boys and Grade 8 girls.

Teams play a minimum of three games apiece and will consist of three or four players. Entry fee for the event is $30 per team or $10 per player.

In addition to the tournament, there will also be door prizes and a free-throw shooting contest.

It all goes down on June 2 from 4 to 9 p.m. inside the ACS gym.

To register a team, text or phone 604-302-0312. Team entry deadline is this Monday.

For more information on the event, contact Hazel Van Dyk at vvandyk@abbotsfordchristian.com.
