Heat add blueliner Callahan

The Abbotsford Heat have signed veteran defenceman Joe Callahan to a one-year AHL contract.

The 6'3", 220-pound blueliner spent last season with the Hamilton Bulldogs, posting 20 points (three goals, 17 assists) in 60 games.

The 29-year-old Brockton, Mass. native has played eight full professional seasons, encompassing 510 AHL games and 46 NHL contests with the New York Islanders, San Jose Sharks and Florida Panthers.
