Hawks win home tournament

WJ Mouat junior boys basketball wins on home court

The WJ Mouat Hawks junior boys basketball team defended home court last weekend at the team’s annual home tournament.

Mouat opened the eight-team tournament on Friday with a 60-32 win over North Surrey, and then qualified for the tournament final with a 53-45 win over Holy Cross.

Saturday’s final saw the Hawks score seven straight points at the end of the game to edge South Kamloops 53-45 to win the tournament championship. Mouat’s Harvir Garcha was selected to the all-star team and Hawks player Prav Gill was named the most valuable player of the tournament.

Mouat is currently ranked second in the province, and the club also won the Abby PD city basketball tournament in December. The Hawks next compete at the Holy Cross tournament on Jan. 22 and 23.
