Mouat grad Carmelle M'Bikata recently earned a CCAA All-Canadian nod for her great year with the Capilano Blues women's basketball team.

A former W. J. Mouat Secondary grad capped off her PacWest basketball season in style on Wednesday.

Capilano Blues women's basketball star Carmelle M'Bikata added another accolade to an excellent season by being named a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association All-Canadian.

The Abbotsford native led the Blues to a first-place finish in the PacWest regular season, and helped Capilano score a silver medal at provincials for the second straight year.

M'Bikata led the PacWest with 15.78 points per game, and was fifth in rebounding at 7.3 per game. She also shot an impressive 56 per cent from the field for the season.

For her efforts, M'Bikata was named the PacWest women's basketball player of the year earlier this month. She is also nominated for the CCAA women's basketball player of the year, which will be awarded this weekend in Edmonton.

The Blues came up short in their bid to win a national title after losing in the PacWest gold-medal game to the Douglas College Royals 70-63 on March 4.

M'Bikata has one year remaining of post-secondary athletic eligibility.
