Abbotsford's Chase Claypool has been placed on injured reserve by the Buffalo Bills.

A toe injury has likely ended the run for Abbotsford's Chase Claypool with the NFL's Buffalo Bills.

The Bills placed the 26-year-old former Abbotsford Senior Secondary School grad on injured reserve on Tuesday (Aug. 13), which may effectively end his season.

It's believed that the Bills will now work on an injury settlement with Claypool, who signed a one-year deal with Buffalo back in May. If a settlement is reached in the next seven days, he will be released and would be able to re-sign with the Bills for whatever amount of weeks that settlement is. He could also sign with another NFL team following the settlement. If he remains on Buffalo's IR he will not play in 2024.

He suffered the toe injury on July 28 and has not yet participated in a full padded practice with the Bills. The injury has obviously made it difficult for the Bills to evaluate Claypool.

Claypool had a tumultuous last season, as he was dealt from the Chicago Bears to the Miami Dolphins in October. He was unable to see much playing time in Miami due to injuries and the Dolphins depth at the wide receiver position.

He finished with 26 yards receiving in nine games for Miami. He also collected 51 yards receiving and one touchdown in three games with the Bears.

Claypool had an excellent rookie season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, including his four-touchdown performance against the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 11, 2020. He is the only Canadian-born player and only Steelers rookie to achieve that feat.

It was reported last year that the Saskatchewan Roughriders currently hold his CFL rights.
