Abbotsford senior, Bateman junior girls reach final four

Panthers, Timberwolves continue hot streak at high school provincials

The wins keep coming for the Abbotsford Panthers senior and the Bateman Timberwolves junior basketball teams in high school provincial tournament action.

After opening with victories on Wednesday, both teams rode the momentum in tournament games today (Thursday) at the Langley Events Centre. As a result, the teams have now advanced to provincial final four in their respective tournaments.

The Panthers led 30-22 over the Argyle Pipers from North Vancouver, but then turned it on in the second half to cruise to the 67-36 win.

 

 

Abbotsford now matches up with arch-rival the Brookswood Bobcats in the AAA senior girls provincial semi-final. Brookswood has won the last three tournaments. That game tips off tomorrow (Friday) at 5:15 p.m. The winner advances to the provincial final, the loser plays for third place.

In the junior girls tournament, the Timberwolves came up huge against Little Flower Academy on Thursday evening, posting a 58-53 overtime win.

 

 

Bateman now squares off against Lord Tweedsmuir on Friday at 8 p.m. at the LEC. A win in that game advances the Timberwolves to the junior girls provincial final.
