Abbotsford players win skills competition at BC AAA golf championships

Devin Cutforth of the Robert Bateman Secondary School team fires a shot Wednesday morning during the BC AAA high school golf championships at the Ledgeview Golf Course in Abbotsford.

Two members of the Robert Bateman Secondary School team were winners in the skill competitions at the BC AAA high school golf championships held at the Ledgeview Golf Course in Abbotsford from June 6 to June 8.

Devin Cutforth won the 150 yard closest to the pin competition which consists of hitting a ball closest to the hole from 150 yards away.

Ryan McGee won the 20 chip closest to the pin which consisted of chipping the ball closest to the hole from 20 yards away.

On the Monday practice round, all 110 students participated in the skills competition that involves Longest drive, Putting from 30 feet, Chipping from 20 yards, Closest to the pin from 150 yards, and sand shots closest to the pin from green side bunkers.

The Bateman team came 12th out of 22 teams and was the only Abbotsford team to make the provincials.
