Tristan Etienne of the W.J. Mouat Hawks has been named to Canada's under-18 men's basketball team.

Etienne, a 6'9" centre who is set to join the NCAA's University of Washington Huskies this fall, was among 21 players invited to tryouts last week in Toronto, and he cracked the 12-man roster.

The Canadian squad will participate in the FIBA Americas U18 Championship beginning this week in Colorado Springs, Colo., taking on Brazil (Friday, June 20), the Dominican Republic (Saturday, June 21) and Puerto Rico (Sunday, June 22) in the group stage. A top-four finish at the FIBA Americas tourney would yield a berth to the U19 World Championships next year in Greece.
