It was a close game in the first 20 minutes as Fraser Valley – Zone 3 tangled with Vancouver Island-Central Coast – Zone 6 for the gold in girls soccer on Sunday.

But Fraser Valley inevitably took over the game, keeping possession and scoring one goal in each half for the 2-0 win.

“The opposition, the first 20 minutes, they played hard,” said Fraser Valley coach Andrew Dodge.

But Fraser Valley kept its clean sheet throughout the Summer Games, not allowing one goal during their four games, Dodge pointed out.

Thompson-Okanagan – Zone 2 defeated Vancouver Coastal – Zone 5 for the bronze medal by earning a 2-1 victory.

Fraser River – Zone 4 had a huge 7-0 win over Cariboo North East – Zone 8 for a fifth-place finish with Cariboo North East finishing in sixth place.

Kootenays – Zone 1 finished seventh with a 6-1 win over eighth place North West – Zone 7.

The Kootenays–Zone 1 defeated Northwest – Zone 7 in a 6-1 victory to decide seventh and eighth finish.
