Hadwin qualifies for PGA Tour event
A red-hot qualifying round has earned Adam Hadwin the right to play in one of the first PGA Tour events of the season.
The 25-year-old Abbotsford golfer went on a birdie binge during Monday qualifying for the $6.1 million Farmers Insurance Open.
Playing at El Camino Country Club, Hadwin tore up the course to the tune of 11 birdies. He finished tied for first with an eight-under 64, and he's among a group of four to qualify for the PGA Tour event.
The Farmers Insurance Open runs Thursday through Sunday at Torrey Pines (South Course) in La Jolla, Calif. The field includes such luminaries as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson.
Hadwin will be a regular on the second-tier Web.com Tour this season. He very nearly earned his PGA Tour card at the conclusion of the 2012 season, but he finished one stroke shy at the Web.com Tour Championship in October.
