The Century 21 Classic at W.J. Mouat Secondary has emerged in recent years as one of the marquee early-season events on the senior high school girls basketball calendar, and the 2012 edition of the tournament looks to be top-notch once again.

The event tips off today (Thursday) at the Mouat and Columbia Bible College gyms, and brings together 16 of the top teams in the province. The defending AAA champion South Kamloops Titans will be in attendance, along with top contenders including the Riverside Rapids, Kelowna Owls, Maple Ridge Ramblers, Oak Bay Breakers and Fleetwood Park Dragons.

Local content includes the host Hawks, the MEI Eagles and the Rick Hansen Hurricanes.

Games begin at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at both Mouat and CBC, and culminate with the bronze (12:30 p.m.) and gold (2:15 p.m.) medal games at Mouat on Saturday.
