Panthers roll past Nanaimo District, advance to junior football semis

Abbotsford Senior's junior football team advanced to the AA provincial semifinals with an impressive 41-8 victory over Nanaimo District Secondary.

Grayson Marquardt was a one-man wrecking crew, scoring five touchdowns on rushes of 18, 6, 19, 68 and 32 yards. Phillip Cromwell added 76 yards on the ground as well.

The defence was stifling, with interceptions by Chase Claypool, Jordan Goheen and Madaraka Kuol, who returned his for a 52-yard pick-six. Jesse Heinrichs and Alex Pongracz each had two quarterback sacks, while Goheen chipped in with seven solo tackles.

After defeating Belmont of Victoria 35-6 in last week's opening round, Abby will now face the winner of Hugh Boyd and Vernon in the semifinals.
