Cascades women's volleyballers continue to cruise
The undefeated University of the Fraser Valley women’s volleyball team swept a pair of games against the College of the Rockies last weekend.
The Cascades (8-0), ranked No. 5 in the CCAA national poll, prevailed in four sets on Friday and in three sets Saturday in Cranbrook. Left side Jenna Evans was named player of the game on Friday, while reigning PacWest MVP Kayla Bruce averaged a sizzling 5.71 points per set in the two victories, totaling 23 kills, 13 blocks and four aces.
The UFV men (1-7) dropped both games against the Avalanche, falling in four sets Friday and in five sets Saturday.
• The Cascades volleyball teams hit the road to face the Vancouver Island University Mariners in Nanaimo this weekend. The women’s match-up is a huge one, as the Mariners (7-1), the defending national champs and currently the CCAA’s No. 1-ranked team, battle the Cascades for first place in the PacWest conference.
