Dosanjh earns MVP honours as T-Birds win national title
Abbotsford soccer player Gagan Dosanjh capped a memorable season by winning a national championship with the UBC Thunderbirds on the weekend.
Dosanjh, a third-year striker who was named Canada West men’s player of the year and a first-team All-Canadian last week, played an instrumental role as the Thunderbirds capped an undefeated campaign at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) championship tournament in Quebec City.
The T-Birds beat New Brunswick 4-0 in the quarter-finals and Laval 3-0 in the semis to punch their ticket to the title game, where they edged the Cape Breton Capers 1-0 to clinch the gold.
Dosanjh was voted championship MVP after scoring a tournament-high four goals, including two against UNB and two more vs. Laval.
