Bearcats work overtime for first win
The Columbia Bible College men's basketball team picked up its first win of the season on Saturday, edging the Capilano Blues 80-74 in overtime.
The Bearcats, coming off a 93-83 loss to the Quest Kermodes on Friday, forced OT against the Blues when Tim Vaandrager hit one of two free throws at the end of regulation. They pulled away in the extra session to improve to 1-2 in PacWest league play.
The CBC women's basketball team (0-3) fell 78-63 to Quest and 61-32 to Capilano.
• This weekend, the Bearcats hoopsters host the Douglas Royals on Friday and the Langara Falcons on Saturday (women 6 p.m., men 8 p.m. both nights).
