Sports in brief: Cumiskey to represent Canada
Kyle Cumiskey of Abbotsford has been named to Hockey Canada's entry for the Deutschland Cup, Nov. 9-11 in Munich, Germany.
Cumiskey, a 25-year-old defenceman, currently plays for Modo in the Swedish Elite League, where he's posted two goals and eight assists in 17 games. He has 132 NHL games on his resumé, all with the Colorado Avalanche.
In assembling the roster over the past month, Hockey Canada did not invite any locked out NHL players, due to the uncertainty of their availability. Other players on the team include former Vancouver Canuck Matt Pettinger, and ex-Abbotsford Heat forward Carsen Germyn, both of whom are playing for pro teams in Germany.
