Jenner honoured by Softball BC

Abbotsford’s Chelsea Jenner was presented with the 2012 athlete of the year award at the Softball BC banquet last weekend in Richmond.

Jenner said it was "quite a thrill" to win the award, since only one female softball player is chosen from all of B.C. The 17-year-old had a banner season, being named an all-star outfielder at both the U18 and U21 Canadian national championships while earning a silver medal at each tournament with her respective teams – the Surrey Storm and Team B.C.

Prior to that, Jenner earned the top batter award at the 2011 U16 nationals, and at the age of 16, was picked by Team Canada as a pinch runner during the Canadian Open International Championships held last July at Softball City.
