Abbotsford soccer stars climb national podium
Four soccer players from Abbotsford brought home medals from the national championships in Mount Pearl, Nfld. last week.
Herman Gill, Elijah Sampson and Manveer Dhillon were members of the B.C. under-16 boys squad, and they settled for a silver medal after falling 2-0 to Ontario in the tournament final.
Gobind Amir Basra and the B.C. U15 boys clinched bronze by beating Team Atlantic 2-1.
Halifax hosted the girls U15/U16 nationals, and Abbotsford's Jenna Cook and the B.C. U16s finished just off the podium. They fell 2-0 to Alberta in the bronze medal game.
