A bronze medal from Tobyn Smith highlighted a series of strong performances by the Abbotsford Olympians swim club at the West Coast Open long course meet in Richmond last weekend.
Smith, age 8, placed third in the girls 10-and-under 100-metre backstroke, and set five new club records in the eight-and-under age bracket.
Other club record-breaking swims came from James Lee, Tavleen Grewal, Hannah Weinkauf, Connor Green and Sam Lee. The Olympians also won the team spirit trophy at the meet.
“This was a fantastic meet for my swimmers," Olympians coach Adrienne Goodey said. "They raced so well in the pool but seeing their team spirit on deck too was really uplifting. I am very proud of each and every one of them.”
Registration for the Olympians is ongoing and the club is currently offering a free month of swimming for new members. Call 604-825-1856 or visit www.abbotsfordolympians.com for more details.
