Abbotsford's Gough seventh at World Cup skeleton event
Abbotsford’s Amy Gough finished seventh at a World Cup skeleton race in Altenberg, Germany on Saturday.
After making the difficult decision to compete in Altenberg following a serious crash earlier in the week that sent three members of the Canada 2 bobsleigh to hospital, Gough and teammates Mellisa Hollingsworth and Sarah Reid hit the start line with the names of the bobsleigh athletes on their sleds.
Gough, who won her first World Cup title in December, traversed the 17-corner track in 1:00.34, finishing second among Canadians. Hollingsworth was fifth in 1:00.31, while Germany’s Anja Huber won gold in 59.87.
