Cascade women tie Carleton
The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades women’s soccer team tied the Carleton University Ravens, 1-1, at Keith Harris Stadium, in Ottawa.
The Cascades record on the four-game road trip to Ottawa and Montreal is 1-0-1, as the team heads to Montreal for the final two games on Wednesday and Thursday.
The UFV defence, led by veteran goalkeeper Chantelle Biagioni, kept Carleton from scoring early. Midway through the half, UFV came alive and on a counter attack, second-year forward Carly Neeson set up Samantha Slack with a great lead pass. Slack then went around the Carleton goalkeeper and scored into an empty net to give UFV the one-goal lead. The slim lead held up until the 90th minute of play, as Carleton’s Valerie Hamilton beat the Cascades rookie keeper Danica Ferris.
