LETTER: Make a better future for a better Earth

I really want to change global warming so that the polar bears have the icebergs they need to survive...

We are learning in class about melting sea ice and global warming. We read an article about how global warming affects polar bears.

I really want to change global warming so that the polar bears have the icebergs they need to survive.

First off, I truly disagree that global warming is natural.

Icebergs do melt in the summer, but we are causing them to melt faster than normal. Most mother polar bears swim for miles and days just to find a shrivelled up iceberg to give birth on, and usually the mother and her unborn cub drown, or die of tiredness.

The melting ice also has an impact on the polar bears’ main source of food, the seal. And that means polar bears are starving to death, which makes their numbers decrease.

But how are we making this happen? The main reason is factories. When we use fuel to make things, we pollute the air and the fuel also makes heat. Another reason is cars and trucks, because they burn gas, and that pollutes the air.

To make a difference, we can stop idling our cars and buy local foods.

If everyone makes small changes like that, we can make a better future for a better Earth.
