I totally agreed with Val Holroyd's letter to the editor entitled "Provide a campsite for the homeless."
I believe this is the direction we need to go – just like the "Dignity Village" in Portland.
I realize that there a lot of logistics involved, but I think we can do this.
After working for years with the homeless in Abbotsford, I see that the problem is not going to go away.
Rather than chasing them from site to site, why don't we provide a site like Portland has and let them "self-police" as much as possible with help from the community? This would provide them with a spot where they could set up more permanently and not be chased away from where they are now.
