LETTER: Disgusted with lack of friendliness

I have never been so disgusted with the lack of friendliness in my neighbourhood...

On April 30, as a canvasser for the Canadian Cancer Society, I went canvassing in my neighbourhood.

I have never been so disgusted with the lack of friendliness in my neighbourhood! People that I knew were home wouldn’t even open their doors. I could see that all the lights were on, but no one even came to the door.

It would have been nice if you had come to let me know that you were not interested instead of being so complacent. It also would have been nice to meet my neighbours. To the two houses that did open their doors, I was able to meet those neighbours and we did have lovely conversations. Thank you for that.

Having had three brain tumors, including having to have radiation,  I canvass for the Cancer Society every year as a way to give back, for them helping me so many years ago. I wear my daffodil proudly.  Next time you see me wearing it, carrying the canvassing book, with my name tag, don’t you think it would be nice to open your door and at least say hi?
