This is an encouragement for our city to look into having a resilient city officer.
The 100 Resilient Cities initiative is a blueprint for all cities to follow. It focuses on chronic stresses, such as housing, transportation, poverty, etc. and also acute shocks, such as earthquakes, terrorism, and environmental catastrophes.
Having a dedicated officer to work on these issues is prudent. She/he could do a lot to address the current and potential problems.
A Google search of the 100 Resilient Cities initiative will provide information in abundance.
I believe it is in our best interests to have a point person to coordinate action in all these areas.
