MARSHALL, William John

May 28, 1932 – July 9, 2009

William (Bill) Marshall died peacefully at the Christine Morrison Hospice, Mission B.C. on July 9th, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Bill leaves behind the love of his life, Hazel Marshall with whom he recently celebrated 59 years of marriage. His pride and joy were his family, Theresa (Peter) Christen, Evelyn Anderson, Heather (Stan) Green and Ian (Anh) Marshall. Bill had nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Bill Marshall was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Helen Marshall, his sisters, Ann Wevling and Helena Coventry and his sons in law, Glen Anderson and Carl Ramsey.

Bill immigrated to Canada in 1952, arriving in Halifax as a 19 year old. He set up his home is Edmonton, Alberta before his young wife and daughter arrived from Scotland a year later. He worked his entire life in the meat packing business, retiring in 1997.

Bill and Hazel moved to Abbotsford in 1973 where he continued his adventure for new places, new adventures and new dreams.

A man of many interests, Bill was active in the Abbotsford Dalia Grower’s Association, British Columbia Avery Society, a founding member of the Edmonton Kennel Club and the founder of the Edmonton Collie Breeders Association.

As diverse as his life was, Bill’s greatest pride and accomplishment in life was his family.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thank you to the staff for the excellent care Bill received at the ARHCC, Worthington Pavilion, & the Christine Morrison Hospice of Mission Memorial Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Matsqui Evangelical Lutheran Church at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 18, 2009.
