William (Bill) SHAW

1920 – 2006

William (Bill) passed away peacefully at MSA Hospital in Abbotsford, BC on October 13, 2006 at the age of 86, surrounded by his family. Born February 10, 1920 in Edmonton, Alberta. Predeceased by his parents and his three sisters Florence, Eva and Josephine (his twin). Bill is survived by his loving wife and best friend, of 61 years, Lou (Mary), children Bernice Sparrow of Winnipeg, Norman Shaw of Langley, and Beverly (Brian) Topping of 150 Mile House; four grandchildren; one great grandchild, nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Bill served in the RCNVR 1939-1945. He, Lou and family lived in Edmonton and Calgary before moving to North Vancouver in 1957 when he started with Westcoast Transmission (now Duke Energy). He retired in 1983 and he and Lou moved to Abbotsford in 1990.

His love of the outdoors was reflected in many happy family outings. He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports and he and Lou curled for many years. He was well liked by all who knew him.

Following Bill’s wishes, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Lung Association would be appreciated.
