October 22, 1928 - December 13, 2020
We mourn the passing of Walter, who left us in early-morning hours of Sunday, December 13 at Menno Place in Abbotsford. He lived there for the final year of his long and blessed life, which ended due to complications from COVID-19. He was 92.
Born in Radosiew, Germany, in an area now part of Poland, Walter moved to Canada in 1952 with his first wife, Gertrude. The couple settled in Edmonton for a time before moving to the Vancouver area. A machinist by trade, Walter worked at a plant on Annacis Island in Delta for many years. The couple lived in Burnaby before retiring in Abbotsford.
After the passing of Gertrude in the early 2000s, Walter met Erika, with whom he enjoyed travelling and sharing a home for the following 16 years.
Walter leaves behind Erika and her many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the Greater Vancouver area, and also his nephews, a niece and sister-in-law, all of whom live in Germany.
In keeping with Walter's request, no service will be held.
Erika would like to thank staff at Menno Place for their care of Walter during a difficult year.
