Victor John Epp

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Victor John Epp, better known as Vic (or “John” by his wife and best friend of nearly 44 years). Born October 13th, 1948 in Winkler, Manitoba, Vic passed away peacefully at Abbotsford Regional Hospital on Sunday July 9th surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Valerie, daughter Robyn (Christian), son Derek (Leah), grandchildren Hannah, Emma and Jayden, as well as his brothers Al (Sharie), Doug (Betty), and sister Carol (Henry). An educator by profession, he retired from Robert Bateman Secondary School in 2009 after spending a long career working with children, in particular, those with special needs. A humble man blessed with true patience and a gift for teaching Vic, or Mr. Epp as he was known to his students, had an incredible impact on those he taught and was regularly recognized around town by former students who were always thrilled to see him, thank him or share stories with him. Vic’s health took a turn in December 2011 after which he battled through a variety of ailments and treatments with stoicism, a smile and an amazingly positive attitude. He was a doting and devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather and will always be dearly missed by his family and those who had the extreme good fortune to call him a friend. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of BC and the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated.
