Victor Alexander JANZEN

September 29, 2007

Victor Alexander

Victor Janzen, surrounded by his family, was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour, on Saturday evening September 29, 2007 at the age of 89 years and one month.

Dad was born in Molotschna, Ukraine on August 18, 1918 and learned, at an early age, to be a blacksmith and a hard worker. He emigrated to Canada in 1948 landing in Halifax on March 9. He worked many years as a building mover across the province of BC moving equipment for the dams as they were being built as well as many houses and other buildings. He enjoyed working with metal and creating wonderful flower stands for the whole family. He loved to travel and enjoyed traveling with Mom in his motorhome. Dad and Mom especially loved their many cruises. They retired to Abbotsford from Vancouver in 1980 and Victor enjoyed many walks exploring his new hometown.

We will miss our Dad. He was a great example and was loved by us all. He will be missed by his wife of 64 years, Margaret; his children, Edith (Eric) Klippenstein, Ettie Janzen, Harry (Josley) Janzen; 6 grandchildren, Lynda (Tracy) McKenzie, Janine (Hugh) Mitenko, Douglas (Stephanie) Klippenstein, Jodine (Kelly) Kim, Roxane (Derek) Rogalsky, and Brad Janzen; 5 great grandsons, Max, Ben, Sam, Gabriel, and Owen; as well as his twin sister, Klaudia Neustaedter in Germany.

Thank you to all the staff at the Cottage who made Dad’s life so comfortable the last months. We appreciate everything you did for him.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 from 7:30 to 8:30 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd, Abbotsford.
