TOMIKO LILLIAN IMAKIRE

April 21, 2004

Tomiko Lillian Imakire passed away on April 21, 2004 in Mission Memorial Hospital at the age of 89 years.

Born in Burnaby, BC. "Tomi", her parents and siblings moved to Mission in 1920. They were moved to Alberta and Tashme, BC during WWII. After the war, she, her husband and children returned to Mission where she volunteered for the Red Cross, Mission Hospice Society, Mission Hospital Auxiliary, the United Church and Mission Community Archives. Her years of service were recognized with the Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award and a life membership with the Old Age Pension's Organization. She continued to be active in the Lifetime Learning, OAP, Hospital Auxiliary and United Church until her death.

A dedicated and generous soul, she is predeceased by her husband Fred (1986), daughter Faith (2001), son Ronnie (1958), brother Matsua and sister Kinko.

Mother will be dearly missed by her son Frank (Caroline); daughter Sharon (Jack); grandchildren Tara (John), Jason (Michelle), Peter (Trish) and great-grandchildren Peter Jr., Dustin and Aidan; sisters Ayako Ostuka, Akiko (Gus) Moriyama and Chieko Nishiyama.

A celebration of Tomi's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at St. Andrew's United Church in Mission, BC.
