BEUKENS, Tjitze (Jim)

Tjitze (Jim) Beukens passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, May 23, 2009 leaving us with many wonderful memories. Jim was born on June 16, 1924 in Sneek, Friesland, the Netherlands. He was one of 14 children. He is survived by his adoring wife Joyce, his seven children; Robert (Gwen) Beukens, Christine (Dave) de Jong, Gert (Graham) Hanson, Janita (Phil) Minderhoud, Geoff Beukens, Helinda (Bill) Vanderkooi, Jason Beukens; his six step children; Leonard (Mary-Ann) Kool, Debbie (Wayne) Clegg. Alida Kool, Dawn (Jim) Ten Hoeve, Kim (Brian) Van Dorp, Kelly (Ross) Siemens, 37 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Hannah (Fred) Gietema, Doreen Beukens, Dan (Ina) Beukens, Pytsje (Geert) Andringa. Following the Second World War, Jim immigrated to Canada where he embarked on many adventures before settling into his passion, dairy farming. Since 1969 Jim and his family farmed on Sumas Prairie, nestled against Sumas Mountain along the Sumas River. Jim was a quiet, gentle man who had a strong faith in God and a love of God's creation. Jim's life is a testimony to God's amazing grace and His faithfulness. Jim led a humble, dignified life and earned the respect of all who knew him. After a full and eventful life Jim has been called to his heavenly home. the family would like to thank the staff at Menno Hospital for their care and the pastors at Living Hope Church for their support. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Living Hope Christian Reformed Church, 34631 Old Clayburn Rd., Abbotsford, B.C. Please no flowers.
