Shirley Zoe
June 8, 1930 - May 31, 2006
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our Mom, Shirley Strachan. Shirley passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at the Langley Hospice after a courageous struggle with cancer. She fought her cancer with dignity, grace, and a wonderful sense of humour. Shirley was predeceased by her brother Roger and grandson Aaron. She will be sorely missed by her children, Rebecca (John), Teresa (Terry), Celia (Patrick), and Ian as well as her cherished grandchildren Paloma, Gavin and Brandon Campbell, Kurt and Bryan Hopper, and Lucas Martinez. Shirley also leaves behind many caring relatives and wonderful friends.
Shirley grew up in North Vancouver and lived in West Vancouver and Langley before settling in Abbotsford where she resided for the last 30 years. Mom was extremely talented in all her endeavours and had a flair for designing and decorating. She gave back to the less fortunate through her volunteering and always the made the most of every situation. Her determination, kindness, and positive attitude have been an inspiration to all who touched her life.
Special thanks to all the friends that helped through this difficult time. Extra special thanks to Dr. Adamson and the wonderful staff at the Langley Hospice. We were welcomed as part of the Hospice family and their compassion and kindness will never be forgotten.
There will be no service, by request. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Langley Hospice Society will be gratefully accepted.
