Selma (Bergen) Peters (nee Gerbrandt), born in Drake, Sask August 1, 1911, went to be with the Lord on February 6th, 2008.

She was predeceased by her daughter Dorothy Rempel, grandson Michael Rempel, her first husband Cornelius Bergen of almost 50 years, second husband Gerhardt I. Peters of 6 years, parents Henry and Katherina (Guenther) Gerbrandt, sisters Sophie Loewen, Freda (Kasdorf) Johnson, and brothers Harrison, Menno, Alvin, Elmer, Jacob, and Erwin Gerbrandt. She leaves to mourn her son Wesley (Marja) Bergen, son-in-law Henry (Evelyn) Rempel, grandchildren Cornelius (Jeannette) Bergen, Allan (Heather) Rempel, David (Tania) Rempel, great-grandchildren Noah, Madeline, Julie, Tanner and Brady Rempel, step-children Louise (Bill) Campbell, Sig (Laura) Peters, Margaret (John) Goosen, Johanna Sommer, Henry (Sonia) Peters, and many step- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Selma was much loved and an inspiration to all who knew her. She worked hard and did her best in all she did, a wonderful cook and craftsperson. She was well known for her quilting, a founding member of the MCC Quilters, working on quilts until only weeks before her death. Those of us who were close to her are thankful to Tabor Home for the loving care the staff gave her during her last weeks. There will be a viewing on Monday, Feb 11 at 7 - 8 p.m. at Eben-Ezer Mennonite Church, 2051 Windsor Street, Abbotsford. Graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Burnaby, at 10:30 Tuesday; memorial service at Eben-Ezer Church at 1:30 on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ukrainian Christian Children's Fund, 10340 Freshwater Dr., Richmond, BC V7E 4H7 would be appreciated.
