HACKWELL - Sarah (Sadie) Evelyn was a petite woman with a twinkle in her eye. Born June 6th, 1914 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, she peacefully passed away on December 15, 2009, aged 95 years, surrounded by her 4 children. She grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan with 4 sisters and 5 brothers, 8 of whom predeceased her. She came to B.C. and was married on February 3rd, 1937 to William Thomas Hackwell, also from Saskatchewan (now deceased). They raised 4 children, Ken (Judy), Faye (Lloyd), Anita (Larry), and Bill in Port Alberni, later retiring to the mainland. She loved the Lord and her family and lived a life of gratitude; enjoyed sharing her delicious cooking, gardening, music and life in general. Always a caring, giving person, she constantly reached out to others with a Christ-like love and was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She leaves a wonderful legacy of love to her 4 children, 19 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Funeral service will be held on Monday, Dec 21 at 12:30 p.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 30635 Blueridge Drive, Abbotsford, BC, followed by burial in Hazelwood Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at the Cottage Pavilion in Abbotsford for their loving care of Sarah.
