Roy NIELSON

December 11, 2006

Roy

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Roy Nielson. He passed away after a brief illness at Royal Columbian Hospital on Dec. 11, 2006. Roy is survived by his wife Dorothy, son Tyler (Lisa), daughter Cynthia, daughter Wendy (Russ), grandchildren Jennifer and Trevor, great-grandchildren Anthony and Kayle and many other relatives and friends. Roy was a man of strong ideas, and not shy about sharing them. Born in Vancouver in 1931, he lived hard and played hard. He made many friends around the Lower Mainland, and forged through life, taking nothing for granted. Friends and family could count on Roy to “tell it like it was” and relied on him for his ability to give them the truth straight up. Known by many names, such as “Blondie” in his youth, “Gracie” in the bottle, “Daddy O” to his many friends, Roy always made people feel as though they were family. Loving nothing better than a good discussion, Roy gave as good as he got and there was never a man, woman or event that got the better of him. His most difficult fight was at the end; we know he didn’t want to leave us. But we also know that he’s gone to a better place where he can spend eternity arguing with the big guy.

A celebration of Roy’s life will take place on Friday, December 15, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the community centre located at 32855 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, BC.
