Ron was full of ingenuity, love, and perseverance, and the courage to continually evolve over his lifetime. He passed peacefully in Vernon Hospital with his children Lavern and Lander by his side. Ron and Betty are once again reunited and dancing joyously to the Blue Skirt Waltz. He will be fondly remembered by his siblings Frank, Chris, and Hajo as well as his grandchildren Tessa, Silas, Dena, Cooper, Carter and Everett.
Ron was born in Ostergroden, Germany and immigrated to Canada at 18 years of age. His determination and spirit to travel west, working tirelessly on farms, brought him to Abbotsford where he became a self-employed plumbing and Ron seemed able to fix anything and made due with little waste, to build a home and provide a hobby farm lifestyle for his family.
Ron cherished his wife Betty who softened him with her patience and appreciation for all that he did. He was a doer and his extraordinary effort in any task was remarkable.
In their retired years, Ron and Betty moved to Niagara Falls to explore their mutual interests in health and wellness. They expanded their dancing routine to most days of the week, rode bikes to the shops, and grew their interests in holistic living. Ron returned to BC four years ago to be closer to his children, first in Kamloops and then in Salmon Arm. Ron's legacy includes the importance of saying people's names, applying one's strengths to problem solve, and appreciating the simple things in life.
At Ron's request, there was a private immediate family ceremony. Memories of Ron can be sent to lavernbutchart@gmail.com. In honor of Ron, please repurpose, respect, relate, and stay real.
