Robert FAST

June 1, 2010

FAST,

Robert (Bob) Gerhard

Nov. 25, 1921 - June 1, 2010

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bob Fast on Tuesday, June 1, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Lola; sons Gordon (Hazel) and Gary (Gillian); sister Verna Kemp; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grand-children.

Bob was born in Rosthern, Saskatchewan and moved west where he met Lola, his wife of nearly 68 years. He resided in Vancouver to raise his family, logging in the Queen Charlotte Islands first, followed by 35 years working at the Shell Oil Refinery in Burnaby. He retired from the refinery at the age of 54 and, along with Lola, enjoyed 25 years or so, motorhoming, rockhounding, fishing, golfing and spending time with family and friends. In later years, Bob spent many hours walking his dog, Skip, sharing special secrets only a devoted dog and his loving master could share.

Bob's life was well-lived and in his final years we wish to thank the caregivers at the Acute Palliative Care Unit at the Abbotsford Hospital, Dr. Brown, the Christine Morrison Hospice staff in Mission, particularly Drs. Kwan and Potter, Susan, from Driving Miss Daisy and the caring Hallmark family and staff at the Hallmark On The Lake. These individuals and services provided a smooth and gentle pathway to Heaven for Bob. For those desiring, donations in Bob's memory may be made to the Christine Morrison Hospice, Abbotsford Hospice Society or a charity of your own choice.

A memorial service for Bob will be held on Monday, June 7th, 2010, at 1:30 pm, at the Hallmark On The Lake, 31622 Charlotte Ave., in Abbotsford.
