Robert Bruce passed away September 11, 2005. Bob was born in Victoria, B.C. on Halloween, 1931. He was the second son of Kathleen (Obee) and Alexander McCormick (deceased). His older brother James passed away before him in Campbell River in 2003. Bob moved to Ocean Falls with his family as a teenager in 1947. Bob became a Dad, Millwright, Political Activist, Construction Superintendent, Union Leader, Plant Maintenance Planner and life long BC Lions fan during his working life. He contributed to forming the PPWC; was a former Trustee in Howe Sound School District; a lifelong CCF/NDP member; a former President of the Millwright’s Union/BC. Bob and Barbara (his loving wife of 52 years) and son moved to North Vancouver then Squamish in the early 60’s where they resided until retirement 1990. During retirement Bob and Barb lived in a number of BC communities including Aldergrove, North Vancouver, Oliver and Abbotsford. In his later years he was a proud grandfather to twins Alexander Robert and Ryan Duncan McCormick. He is survived by Barb and son Brad (Penny) and their kids. Bob leaves a large number of nieces; nephews; cousins in Western Canada and the US West Coast; along with many dear friends. Bob passed on peacefully with his family beside him at MSA Hospital (Abbotsford, B.C.). Many thanks to the nurses of 2 West for their compassion and care. He will be remembered as using few words but always many actions. Bob will be missed and loved forever by his family. No service by his request.
