McALLISTER; Inspector Rae

March 30, 1927 - November 7, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rae McAllister on November 7, 2016 in Burnaby, British Columbia. (Norman) Rae was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, son of Ruth and Earl McAllister and one of three sons and two daughters. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy "Dot", in addition to his parents, two brothers and one sister. Rae is survived by his children, Dawn, Raymond and Michael; his daughter-in-law, Lisa; his granddaughters, Caralyn (David) and Michele (Chris); his grandsons, Joshua and Liam; his great-grandsons, Mateo and Aiden; his great-goddaughter, Adriana; his sister, Earla Levring; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved very much. Rae had a distinguished career in the RCMP from 1947 to 1984, holding posts in Alberta, New Brunswick, Manitoba, Ottawa, Vancouver, Victoria and other cities in British Columbia. He rose to the rank of Inspector in the RCMP and was then appointed as the Deputy Director General for BC at C.S.I.S. Colleagues who worked with him always say he was the best boss ever. Rae's family and many friends will always remember his unconditional love, generosity, sense of humour, steadfast support and wise counsel for all members of his family, his contributions to numerous churches and charities, his unwavering faith and especially his enduring love for Dot. He will not be particularly well-remembered for his singing. Dad was a great man, a true man of faith and the best father a family could ever hope to have. We miss him so much already. A Memorial Service will be held at Abbotsford Baptist Church, 33651 Busby Road, Abbotsford, BC on Saturday, November 19 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, BC and Yukon Division or another charity of your choice.
