Peter KOOT

November 2, 2005

Peter

On Nov. 2, 2005, the Lord called Peter Koot to his eternal home. Peter was born in The Netherlands on July 12, 1919 and immigrated to Canada in 1950 with his beloved wife May, who predeceased him in 1978.

He resided in the Lower Mainland for many years before moving to Lethbridge, Alberta to carry on the business operations of Columbia Seed Company Limited as its managing director. After his retirement in 1982, he returned to the Netherlands where he married his second wife, Riet. Peter was a seasoned world traveler, an enthusiastic sailor, and an avid reader; but most of all, he was a kind and caring father to his children: Peter Jr. (Corrie), John (Evelyn), Brent (Susan),, Anita and Allan (Valerie), all of whom are deeply saddened with his death but rejoice in the knowledge that he now rests in the everlasting arms of his heavenly Father. Peter also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two sisters (Willy and Martha) and one brother (Ray), as well his "second family": in the Netherlands — Riet and her children and grandchildren, with whom Peter shared many wonderful years.

A special thank you to the staff of Ebenezer Home and Menno Home who treated Peter with dignity and compassion as he courageously struggled against Alzheimer's.

A memorial service commemorating his life and walk with God took place at Living Hope Christian Reformed Church on Monday, Nov. 7, 2005.
